Η σύνθεση παριστάνει την σύνοδο αποκατάστασης των εικόνων (11 Μαρτίου 843). Στο μέσο της σύνθεσης, αξονικά, ο Πατριάρχης Κωνσταντινουπόλεως Μεθόδιος με ανοικτό ειλητάριο και αριστερά η αυτοκράτειρα Θεοδώρα. Πάνω, στο μέσον η εικόνα της Παναγίας Βρεφοκρατούσας όπου αποδίδεται η οφειλόμενη και αναγνωρισμένη τιμή από τα πλήθη των πιστών (ιερωμένοι και λαϊκοί) που τοποθετούνται συμμετρικά στην κλίμακα που οδηγεί στην εικόνα, αλλά στο κάτω μέρος δίπλα από τον άγιο Μεθόδιο και την Θεοδώρα τη Βασίλισσα.
